Spotlight on Wes

Wesley's turn for the spotlight. Here he is dressed up and ready for the Ballroom Dance Team concert. He's a pretty good dancer, but a remarkably good performer. His grandparents were able to watch his concert - grandpa recorded it and said he'll have to show it when Wes gets married during the reception :)

His other notable thing to report - he just received his first scholarship! He was the recipient of the Energy Solutions Scholarship for his high school worth $2000. (This is a math, science and engineering scholarship - one per high school in Utah. Make sure your kids apply when they are sophomores!) Amanda received this when she was a sophomore too.

Spotlight on Troy

I recently heard on the news that by March, a majority of people have abandoned New Year's resolutions. Troy, on the otherhand is still going strong. January 2010, he began his effort to lose weight and has lost 23 pound so far and 2+ notches on his belt. He is working hard and counting his daily food points using the WeightWatchers program. We are so proud of him!!

Spotlight on Haylee

It seems most of our posts are about Quinton, so we decided the other kids deserved equal time. Today is a spotlight on Haylee. First, here she is as Betsy Ross on "Famous Americans Day" at her school. She sewed the flag by herself (the stripes on the sewing machine, and the stars by hand).

Here is her science fair project. She did a group project and they took 2nd place at the school, and qualified in the district competition to move on to the state science fair at the University of Utah. They had an interesting project studying how color affects perception of flavor. When clear cherry Kool-aid was served, all but one student correctly identified the flavor. When different colors were added, the majority perceived flavors that correlated with the color of the Kool-aid. (One student even thought the yellow tasted like Banana).

Quinton, where are you?

I haven't updated the blog with Christmas or anything for a while, but Troy made me document the event of today, so we could share. You see, it's a day off for everyone. Somehow we all assumed someone else was watching Quinn. When we noticed no one had seen him for a while, we went looking. He had been VERY busy in Mommy's office.

Thank goodness for washable markers! It could have been so much worse, but amazingly, it all came off of everthing (except the posterboard).

Let it Snow

Quinn was thrilled with the snow, but he wanted to "clean it up". He loved pushing around the snow shovel and helping Mommy.

Halloween

Quinton is obsessed with Spiderman. He has been wearing his costume for a couple of weeks now. When his costume is in the laundry, he just wears his hat and tries to climb the walls - a skill that has come in handy now as he tries to retrieve his candy from off the top of the fridge.

The fun starts all over again trying to come up with costume ideas for the teenagers to wear to the youth dances. (Thank goodness for the preschool dress up box and scrubs that we go to wear under our pioneer trek dresses)

The kids have become quite good at their pumpkin carving skills. Here are their masterpieces.
